What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic Pain is pain that has lasted for more than three months it affects hundreds of thousands of Australians.


A patient with chronic pain may relate to conditions that are either:

  • Associated symptoms arising from another cause (like postoperative pain or pain associated with malignancy), or
  • Where the pain constitutes the primary problem (like neuropathic pains or headaches).
